About Me

I was born and raised in a slow-moving sunsoaked African country called Zimbabwe. I had a small town upbringing, my transportation was a Raleigh Chopper bike and my favorite rock band was (and still is) Led Zeppelin. My playground was the bush and I still like getting brown sand in-between my toes.

I moved to South Africa in the early 1980s, studied engineering in Cape Town and did an MBA in Johannesburg in the 90s. I worked for a major construction company in South Africa, an international deep-sea mining corporation and one of the richest princes in Saudi Arabia before settling into a career in recruitment.

I now regard myself as being a highly focused executive recruiter.

I work insanely hard during the week and refresh on weekends. I love the outdoors and I need the fresh air and blue skies to recharge my batteries. I seriously enjoy traveling, the more foreign the culture, the better.

When I do full search assignments I select my clients carefully and never take on more work than I can handle. This allows me space to be thorough and make sure that nothing falls through the cracks.

I’m a specialist and know my industries inside-out. Superior people seldom respond to job adverts and these are precisely the kind of people I network with and speak to on a regular basis. I can pick up the phone and speak to people who are outside of the normal reach of hiring managers.

I have strong ethics and all my work is highly confidential.

When the pressure heats up, like on recruitment campaigns with multiple vacancies, I have a very tight network of fellow recruiters and sourcing specialists around the world that I can call on. These associates are also there to help out when I have to search for people in foreign countries.

Good competitor awareness ensures both strategic and operational decisions can be based on facts rather than hearsay. However, obtaining accurate industrial intelligence can often be tricky.

I have vast experience in researching key facts and information such as competitor structure, salary benchmarking and benefits packages.
